Industrial Energy Systems

The department "Industrial Energy Systems" deals with technologies for increasing energy efficiency, e.g. through heat recovery, waste heat utilisation, integration of renewable energy systems as well as the optimised use of thermal components and optimisation of operating strategies with the aid of dynamic process models and simulation; development of methods and models for making energy supply and production more flexible by integrating new storage and conversion technologies. These include load management, process integration and process intensification, which use numerical simulation to optimize the energy efficiency of individual industrial processes or detailed energy systems and production sites.
